Grants can be a excellent way to fund the cost of a new Frosty Fruit Slushy machine. There are millions of dollars in educational grants that are awarded every year.  You don't need to be a professional grant writer to win one of these grants from a variety of different organizations.

Here is a list of tools and resources of where to look for grants and other funding opportunities:

Lowe's Toolbox for Education grant program donates $5 million to public schools and public school parent teacher groups every year.  You can raise up to $5,000 for your school in minutes.

Foundation Center maintains the most comprehensive database on U.S. and, increasingly, global grantmakers and their grants.

On you will find all the funding opportunities from the 26 federal agencies that award grants.

GrantWatch lets you know what government grants and foundation grants are currently available  through their user friendly grants search and grant summaries. is a free resource for teachers to search for grants by category, location, or grade. gives public school teachers the opportunity to create classroom project requests and people can give money to that project through their website.

ClassWish is a site where teachers, administrators, and PTOs can create a wish list of the resources there students need.  Supporters can then contribute to those needs through their website.
